This was a fast, fun read, and I suppose Eoin Colfer (Artemis Fowl, the 6th Hitchhiker's Guide book, among others) did an okay job remaining true to the spirit of the first Doctor, but I'm not really the best judge on that. I've only seen three episodes with the first Doctor, William Hartnell, in them, and they all put me to sleep. And unlike Mr. Colfer, I prefer the less grumpy and more enthused about life versions of the Doctor. I'm also really just more excited about the ten other stories to be released over the next ten months. I can't wait to see what other children's authors they get, who gets what Doctor, and what they'll do with them. It's just fun.
